"If we align ourselves with the spirit of place we will find humility fused with joy. The land holds stories.” Terry Tempest Williams
Plein Air Mandala Workshop: Harnessing the Energy of Place
Come join me for three hours of creative exploration in the wonderful and wonder-filled New Mexico outdoors where we'll gather pencils, markers, water colors, acrylics - or whatever YOUR creative medium is and explore the process of creating plein air mandalas. Learn, not just how to tap into the beauty and uniqueness of place, but also how to tap into the energy that these places hold for us.
Whether it's the golden whisper of a cottonwood true, a weathered saloon sign, an ancient church steeple, an impossibly crystal blue sky, a delapidated brick wall - all these things hold unique energy. Mandalas can help us explore that energy and what it means to and for us.
In this three hour experiential workshop we will:
- learn the basics behind plein air "mandala-ing"
- individually explore/create 2-3 of our own mandalas working from whatever scenes or images move us
- come together in group to write/discuss/explore what those particular images mean to us
Markers and paper will be provided, or you can bring your own favorite creative medium.
When: Saturday, April 7th, 2018, 10am-1:30pm
(rain date: April 14th)
Where: Lamy, NM
What to bring: Chair, water, sunscreen, snacks. Also sturdy footwear as who knows where your wandering eye might take you!
Cost: $99
