I CREATE all my collages intuitively using only National Geographic images. Every image is hand cut, meaning there is no manipulation of image size which can make for some interesting juxtapositionings! I first create the collages, using good old fashioned scissors and glue sticks, gluing the stories as they come to me onto the cover of composition notebooks, which then become my daily journals. I then scan the pieces themselves and print them onto canvas. Each work tells a unique story which can offer countless hours of contemplation and journaling prompts.
One of the most beautiful things about working solely with National Geographic magazines, besides the absolute purity of the images - nothing is staged, edited or photo-shopped - is that often the same image will "come" to you multiple times, and each use of it can in turn provide a subsequent chapter in an ongoing story. Look closely below and you'll see some interesting, and completely unintentional, repeats of images.
Each collage is available as an 16x24 collage prints on aluminum. Contact Dante via contact form below for purchasing information.
