In this fun and evocative 2 1/2 hour workshop you will delve into the art of "ekphrastic" poetry - the practice of creating poetry from a work of art. In our case we'll be using three works of art: a collage, a mandala and simple black and white photos, to better give you a taste for finding words from image - ANY type of image. And images that you can create on your own, and continue to explore, long after the class is over.
Geared toward professional, amateur and non-poets alike, this class will show you how to find words, stories and metaphors in places where you'd least expect them. Through the process you will discover how image-born poetry can give us glimpses into our own themes and stories - and the poetry of our lives.
Come with paper and pencil.
Leave with three exquisitely different poems.

Dante Jericho is a contemporary mystic, teacher and artist. She has been teaching collage, creative writing, poetry and mandala work nationally and online internationally for the past 15 years. Her poems have been published in The American Muse, Tales of Eros, and The Sun, among others.
